Death of Rolling Stones’ Brian Jones Might Have Been Murder

Authorities in Britain are reopening the investigation into the mysterious death of Brian Jones, the founder of the Rolling Stones band, after more than 600 files were turned over by a reporter, indicating that he was murdered. It is now just over 40 years after the musician was found at his East Sussex home face down at the bottom of his swimming pool in 1969.

Jones died only a month after Mick Jagger and Keith Richards cut him out of the very band he started. His body was found by 3 houseguests the day after they had been up drugging and drinking. There have been numerous conspiracies about how Jones suddenly passed, including Jagger and Richards doing it themselves.

However, it wasn’t until last year that Scott Jones, an investigative journalist, published a review of Jones’ death in the Daily Mail. The reporter found enough evidence over a two-year investigation of his own that suggests Jones may have been murdered by Frank Thorogood, a friend and general contractor.

Scott found and interviewed the guest that found his body, Janet Lawson. She had never told anyone her account before this but told the journalist that Thorogood seemed shook up before Jones’ body was found. The contractor also knew that Jones was in the pool before Lawson even told him where she discovered him. Scott turned in all of findings, which prompted authorities to investigate his allegations.

This isn’t the first time that Thorogood has been accused of Jones’ murder though. Two books printed in 1994 pointed the finger at him, stating that he confessed to doing it when he was dying in 1993. The motive isn’t clear, but Scott suggests that Jones owed Thorogood money. Police probably didn’t reopen the case in 1994, because they figured fans were just rambling on. Hopefully now they will take this investigation seriously and find out what really happened.
