Figure of Jesus Christ sighted on Mars
NASA has released a high definition photograph of the surface of mars that some people claim shows the image of Jesus Christ embedded on the planet’s surface.
The image is available for viewing on the Nasa.gov website. NASA makes no mention of the image of Jesus, but instead claims that the photo depicts an area known as the Hale Crater and the adjacent gullies.
The photo, along with over a thousand others, was taken by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter as it orbited the red planet last month. NASA kept it a secret and didn’t publish the photo until this week.
The Jesus image has become an instant internet favorite. It is almost as popular as the image of the Virgin Mary that was discovered on the side of a glass office building in Tampa, Florida a few years ago. The building became a shrine that attracted thousands of pilgrims.
The Orbiter was launched way back in 2005 on a mission to look for water on mars. It contains the largest camera ever used on a planetary mission and it’s capable of taking extreme close ups of Mars’ surface. Scientists never imagined that it was capable of spotting Jesus.
We passed the photo around the news room here at Moo News. If you tilt the photo just right, a little to the left, and have your head slightly tilted upward, with yours eyes looking down at it, sure enough, there’s Jesus looking right back at you. Some members of the staff, however, thought it resembled Michael Jackson.
