OJ Simpson tries to get out of jail

OJ Simpson, the ex-football icon and convicted felon, was trying to get released from prison on bail during the pendency of his appeal. The Nevada Supreme Court wants no more shenanigans from the likes of “The Juice” and has denied his release.

Who can forget the infamous white Bronco chase that took place when OJ was accused of murdering his wife, Nicole? Even though he was never convicted of that crime, most people think he did it.

So there was certainly no outpouring of sympathy for Simpson when he was busted in Las Vegas last year for robbery and kidnapping. Like a fool, he was caught red handed with a gun trying to steal some of his old football memorabilia from a dealer. He was convicted and sent to the big house for 33 years.

The astute three judge panel that was hearing the case concluded that his attorney’s had not met the heavy burden of proof needed to secure bail. Basically, they could not prove that Simpson wasn’t a huge flight risk.

The judges pointed to the gravity of the crime as a reason for their decision. His crime involved firearms, was of a violent nature, and was an offense not eligible for probation. OJ will be staying in jail during the appeal.
