Swine Flu Vaccine Arrives Around the Globe
It’s widely known that the H1N1 virus has been taking its toll around the world, as there have been many reported to have the swine flu - not to mention many deaths. The World Health Organization says that there have been over 340,000 people infected with the virus, while more than 4,100 have died, according to numbers reported to them.
However, researchers, scientists and pharmaceutical companies shed some light on the situation a couple months ago when they announced they were getting close to completing a vaccine. And now it has arrived!
Although the vaccine didn’t make it to health departments and clinics before the start of the new school year, there were doubts that it wouldn’t even be approved and made available to the public until November. So far the vaccine is available in China, the US and Australia, with Japan and several European countries to get the approval next.
In the US, every state has their own delivery plan for the vaccine, so residents can check with their state health or clinic department for information on when the vaccine will arrive. They can also find out who is first in line to get the vaccine, as well as where it will be made available to them. The vaccine will also be scheduled for students to take during or after school hours.
Aside from a regular flu shot form, the swine flu vaccine has also been made in the form of a nasal spray. Of course, this spray is less painful, but it won’t be entirely safe for children aged 9 and under to use it, as they will have to be given two doses of the vaccine. However, many adults will probably opt for the nasal spray.
