150,000 Facebook Accounts Down due to Technical Issue
The social networking site Facebook has been having some issues with restoring profiles for more than 150,000 user accounts. This problem came after the site had an outage for nearly a week because of a technical issue with a database. Even though the social networking site has restored nearly all of the details of their users’ profiles, the company is worried that they may not be able to restore some of the data for recent profile updates.
Facebook has insisted that the outage, which happened on October 3, was caused by a technical problem with the site’s servers. They also say that there is no way it was caused by a hacker or any malicious activity. They hope that they will able to reinstate the down accounts within a couple days.
A spokeswoman for the site, Brandee Barker, said that their engineering team is working constantly to correct the issue, and all of the users who haven’t been able to access their account should start to as of Monday. She also said that Facebook apologizes for the inconvenience, and they are taking further measures to uphold the expectations of their users.
It goes without saying that many of these users haven’t been happy about the issue, as some of them fear losing their accounts altogether. Many of them feel that this is totally ridiculous and are frustrated with it, as it has been more than 7 days now. There have even been comments that their experience with Facebook has been ruined. Let’s hope that Facebook can get everything together in the next couple days like they predict.
