John Travolta Extortion Case Declared Mistrial

John Travolta has had to endure a lot of emotional pain since the beginning of the year, starting with the tragic passing of his son, for which he was then blackmailed by a paramedic and lawyer and then put on the stand in court to relive the event all over again. Now the case, which has gone on for nearly 4 weeks, has been ruled a mistrial.

Judge Anita Allen ruled the case a mistrial after the verdict was leaked due to juror misconduct. This was discovered after a local politician announced the acquitting of one of the defendants before the jurors returned with their verdict.

The judge has called for a retrial, but it isn’t clear when a retrial will occur. This means that Travolta will have to endure testifying again, and it will not likely come before the end of the year. The sooner the better, though, so he can put the whole thing past him and grieve without all the chaos involved.

Tarino Lightbourne, the paramedic, and politician Pleasant Bridgewater, his lawyer, were accused of blackmailing Travolta for $25 million to keep them from releasing a private document to the public. The document is a refusal of an ambulance, for which Travolta is said to have signed because he was thinking of flying his son to Florida for treatment. The incident happened in Grand Bahama on January 2.

Bridgewater resigned from the Senate after being charged in the case. Both extortionists denied the allegations, but it was leaked that Bridgewater would be cleared from the charges. The judge had no choice but to declare the case a mistrial. Hopefully next time they will get it right and justice will be served!
