Teen Girls Responsible for Hollywood Burglaries
The burglars who committed the break-ins at the homes of many popular celebrities - Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Orlando Bloom, Audrina Patridge, etc - have finally been arrested. According to authorities in Los Angeles, 4 teenage girls and a teenage boy studied fashion magazines, gossip television shows and websites to decide which clothing and jewelry they wanted. Then they targeted the homes of several celebrities to break into - sometimes they would strike the same house twice.
The first of the group to be arrested was 18-year-old Nicholas Prugo. He was accused of stealing $170,000 worth of designer jewelry and clothing from the homes of Patridge and Lohan. 19-year-old Diana Tamayo, 18-year-old Courtney Ames and 18-year-old Alexis Neiers were also arrested and accused of a burglary spree that lasted from October last year to September this year.
The ringleader of the group was 19-year-old Rachel Lee, who was arrested in Las Vegas on Friday. Authorities say that they found some partially nude pictures linked to Hilton and a hat linked to Lohan in the home of the girl’s father. The group of girls are classmates at Indian Hills High School, which is a school specifically for troubled teenagers. It is also said that they were aided by a 27-year-old bartender, Roy Lopez, who is being accused of holding the stolen items. Authorities added that a third man is being sought in the investigation.
LA officer Brett Goodkin says that the group focused on one star, tracked their movements with media sites and celebrity photos taken by paparazzi, and learned when they wouldn’t be home. Prugo’s laptop showed an internet search history with close-up shots of the celebrities’ jewelry.
