Actor’s faces included in line up of football hooligans wanted by the police

Scotland Yard has issued unreserved apologies for including pictures of actors in a movie about football violence in a list of sixty-six people they wish to contact in relation to violence that broke out at a football match between West Ham and Millwall. Police officers studying footage of the riots were unable to tell the difference between the real thing and footage released from the film The Firm. A Sky Television report was being used by officers to identify the faces of those involved in the riots which broke out at the game in August, but because the sound had been turned down those viewing the footage did not realize that the report also included scenes from the film.

Scotland Yard has since removed six of the mugshots including that of actor Paul Anderson. Insiders say that the incident is extremely embarrassing for the police but Scotland Yard claim that it was a genuine mistake. The Firm’s makers, Vertigo Films have said that they accept Scotland Yard’s apology and also say that they are pleased that they have produced scenes that are indistinguishable from real events.

Scotland Yard said that they are looking into how the blunder was made. Forty-five of those wanted in connection to the violence at Upton Park have already been arrested and a police spokesman says that the actors pictured in the collection of mugshots are not required to turn themselves in for interview as they are in no way connected with any ongoing police investigations.
