MTV EMA 2009 Winners

The MTV Europe Music Awards 2009 was a glamorous night for all, but the ladies appeared to get most of the attention. Beyonce picked up three awards and performed while Katy Perry, Shakira and Leona Lewis gave hot performances as well.

The performances themselves weren’t as mystifying as the way the girls looked in their chosen wardrobes. Katy Perry started off the show with a collaboration of the night’s 5 Best Song nominees, wearing a sexy corset with stockings and suspenders. She was joined by identically dressed female dancers with the stage lit up “Katy Kat Club” in lights. The songs she collaborated were “Sex On Fire” by Kings of Leon, “Cabaret” from Liza Minnelli, “Pokerface” by Lady Gaga, “When Love Takes Over” by Kelly Rowland, and Beyonce’s “Halo”.

Beonce started out with a back drop to look like a bed laid with red satin sheets, wearing a scarlet one-piece bodysuit and matching suspenders, to sing “Sweet Dreams”. Shakira took to the stage looking very “She Wolf” in a gold dress to sing a new song “Did It Again”. Leona Lewis sang a tearjerking “Happy” wearing a dark gown surrounded by mist.

The show also included a performance by Jay-Z, who sang “Empire State of Mind” alone, “Wheels” and “All My Life” were performed by Foo Fighters, while Green Day performed “Know Your Enemy”. U2 performed as well and were joined on stage by Mick Jagger, Bruce Springsteen and Jay-Z.

• Best Push Artist - Pixie Lott
• Best Male - Eminem
• Best New Act - Lady Gaga
• Best Alternative - Placebo
• Best World Stage Performance - Linkin Park
• Best Song - Beyonce “Halo”
• Best Rock - Green Day
• Best Urban Act - Jay-Z
• Best Live Act - U2
