Simon Cowell softens towards Jedward on X Factor
Simon Cowell last night shocked viewers of the X Factor by announcing that Irish twins John and Edward Grimes’ performance was sort of good. The comment is a real turnaround by the man who has threatened to quit the U.K. if they win the competition. The pair came onto stage in a Ghostbusters car to perform the eponymous song as part of movie week. Cowell’s comment also stunned the twins themselves with one pointing out that he usually hated them. The other judges were a little unsure about the song which ended with a dance routine involving the Stay-Puft marshmallow man. Dannii Minogue simply said that she didn’t really have much to say pointing out that it is a singing competition. Cheryl Cole was a bit more enthusiastic saying that it was no mean feat to appeal to the shows younger audience members.
Louis Walsh had praise for Stacey Solomon who decided to wear PVC for her performance of Son of a Preacher Man. However Simon Cowell was a little more critical and described her as a bit like eating Chinese food, it’s not always that satisfying when you finish. Olly Murs performed Twist and Shout and although he got cheers from the audience he failed to impress Louis Walsh who asked why such a silly song had been chosen for him and Dannii Minogue who couldn’t understand why he had become Michael Jackson half way through the dance routine.
Danyl Johnson impressed the female judges with his new haircut but Jamie Archer once again made Louis Walsh angry because Simon Cowell had chosen a song that had no relevance to the week’s theme. You’re cheating he told his fellow judge.
