JLS Take No. 1 Spot
JLS, the runner up to last year’s “X Factor”, has pushed Cheryl Cole, a member of the group Girls Aloud and a judge on the reality competition series, from the top of the UK singles chart. Cheryl enjoyed the number one spot with “Fight For This Love” for two weeks, but JLS’s single “Everybody In Love” took the top spot for this week, selling over 100,000 copies in only the first week of being released.
This accomplishment gives the band their second consecutive chart-topper. OritsĂ© Williams, a group member, said that he can’t believe they have another number one single. The best thing is that people really enjoy their music, he continued, and for their first two singles to top the chart is more than they ever expected.
Meanwhile, Black Eyed Peas’ “Meet Me Halfway” climbed the chart from sixth to third. This knocked “Down” by Jay Sean featuring Lil Wayne to fourth and “Bad Boys” from Alexandra Burke (last year’s “X Factor” winner) to fifth. Then Ke$ha, a US pop singer, took sixth on the chart with the debut of “Tik Tok” - in March she scored a number one hit with Flo Rida for “Right Round” - while Chase & Status’ “End Credits” featuring Plan B made ninth for its debut.
Also on the chart is “Haven’t Met You Yet” by Michael BublĂ© in seventh, falling from fifth, while “What About Now” from Westilfe takes eighth, falling from second. However, Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” climbed the chart some, going from fourteenth to tenth.
