Comedian Katt Williams Arrested and Charged for Trespassing and Burglary
Comedian, actor and rapper Katt Williams was arrested on Monday for criminal trespassing and burglary. He allegedly broke into the home on Sunday in Georgia and stood before a judge on Monday after his arrest during which he was officially charged with trespassing and burglary. Williams was being held at Coweta County Jail, and the magistrate set a bond, for which he paid $41,150 to get out.
According to police officials, Williams broke into a Newnan home about 38 miles southwest of Atlanta. The homeowner, which has been identified by media sources as Daniel Broach, called the police about 9pm Sunday night to report the entertainer broke into his home using a crowbar and took some jewelry - $3,555 worth - with him.
Williams’ attorney stated that Broach, a movie producer, called the cops to report a fake burglary. Williams has permission to be in the home, he continued, and has been staying there for 3 weeks.
The 36-year-old is known for acting in films “Norbit” and “Friday After Next”, as well as putting to together comedy DVD “Katt Williams: Pimpadelic”, which was number eight in the nation for sales at the end of last month. He recently appeared in the music video “One More Drink” by Ludacris.
However, he has been in the news lately for other criminal troubles after being jailed briefly last November. He was pulled over for driving without a license plate, and the officers found three guns in the car. The weapons charges were dropped in July after they ran into problems proving the case against him. Going further back, Williams was sentenced to three years of probation in 2006 after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor of carrying a concealed firearm, which was found in his briefcase at the Los Angeles International Airport.
