Prince William could wed in 2012

Rumours are rife at Buckingham Palace that there may be a royal wedding as soon as 2012. Prince William has not yet proposed to girlfriend Kate Middleton but the palace has allegedly been told to start preparing for the occasion. 2012 is also the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year and it is thought that the event could also be celebrated by the Prince’s nuptials.

Sources close to the Queen say that she has said that she would be very pleased to celebrate her grandson’s wedding alongside her jubilee. She has also said that she would like her jubilee to be kept separate from any celebrations of the 2012 Olympics to be held in London.

William has already famously said that he would like to be married at the age of thirty and friends of the prince and Ms. Middleton have been placing bets on whether or not the couple will get engaged in the near future. Insiders also say that 2012 would be a good year because the prince will have had a chance to put his training as a search-and-rescue pilot with the RAF into use. It is thought that after marriage William will be obligated to take up his royal duties full time. Officials say that it would be good for William to establish himself as a part of the RAF before committing to a wedding.

If a wedding does go ahead in 2012 it will mean a very busy time for the royal family but could also mark 2012 as a stellar year.
