Today, more and more people particularly children, are caught in the middle of conflict in war zones, epidemics, hunger, and deaths. Children in African countries as well as those from China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Afghanistan and Pakistan suffer the consequences of crises that shouldn’t have been their concern in the first place.
Women, children and the elderly are all too often the ones receiving the hard blows of wars, discrimination, inhumane treatment and other horrific ordeals that no one should have to suffer.
These issue have become a global concern that people from all walks of life who are in better homes, in happier places and more privileged have started organizations and programs to help people suffering in these tragic situations; such as Action Aid.
What are the targeted situations of Action Aid and how do they help?
Action Aid aims to put a stop to world hunger, discrimination, inequality of rights for women, violation of human rights and other unjust practices inflicted upon the less fortunate people of underdeveloped countries.
They also aim to protect children and fight for their right to education and to live - emphasizing on the stop to child labor and abuse.
To be able to truly help people better their lives, they work hand-in-hand with communities and educate them, particularly training them for livelihood projects.
I’d like to help, how can I do this?
You can help by sponsoring a child in a country of your choice. When you visit the website, you will see the areas that are currently covered by Action Aid - more countries are being worked on to be included - and choose where you would like to sponsor a child.
By donating a small amount, you will be giving your sponsored child a better life and you will be updated on the progress of your child so you will be as involved as possible with the child’s development.
